Seafood
is generally a healthy, safe and nutritious part of a balanced diet, but
some caution is justified when traveling. Seafood poisoning can result from
eating spoiled seafood, fresh seafood that contains biotoxins, and seafood
made infectious because of growth in a fecally contaminated ecosystem. It
is difficult to protect yourself from the first two sources of risk, but
you can do something about the latter, i.e., Be Foodwise and remember that
the consumption of uncooked seafood is risky.
Don't eat raw fish or uncooked shellfish. |
